Find the Beauty in Life's Imperfections

Find the Beauty in Life's Imperfections

December 19, 2020

I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect--they are much more interesting. ~Marc Jacobs

Being happy does not mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections. ~Gerard Way

A couple of weeks ago, as I was driving my 8 year-old granddaughter back to her home, she excitedly pointed out a distressed, older pickup sitting on the side of the road, a wreath hanging precariously off the side mirror. "Look at that truck Grandma," she said. I slowed down to get a better view. It seemed so out of place parked in front of a beautiful home in an affluent neighborhood. Yet, I was so struck by the symbolism and odd beauty of it that I returned later to take a photo.

The last eleven months have been difficult, and for some, tragic. Perhaps the holiday wreath on the work-in-progress truck can serve as a reminder to look for and create beauty in our lives, even in the midst of all the challenges, stresses, and imperfections.

Wishing you love, peace, joy and hope,

 Rebecca S. Hauder, RN, LCPC
