“There are three needs of the griever: To find the words for the loss, to say the words aloud and to know that the words have been heard.” ~Victoria Alexander
The changes that have come with Covid-19 have hit many of us hard, not only because of the routines, connections, or loved ones we’ve lost, but also because of what we anticipate losing, like a long-planned trip, a wedding, or an upcoming Thanksgiving tradition. With all of these losses—current or anticipated—we experience grief, and grief tends to impact every aspect of our lives, including our emotions, thoughts, behaviors, physcial functioning, and spiritual well-being. Unfortunately, because of the need for physical distancing, support for one another must happen at a distance. And, if there has been a death, funerals are postponed or take on a different format.
I’ve listed a few resources below that can help you manage the losses and grief accompanying this pandemic. If you’ve discovered a resource you’ve found helpful, let me know about it at rebecca@resourcesforgrief.com.
